Introducing Thai Massage
August, 2005
Thai Massage is beneficial for anyone, but is particularly useful for those
needing to increase their flexibility. This ancient healing art incorporates
muscle stretching, compression, reflexology, and acupressure. Some have
referred to Thai massage as ‘lazy man's yoga' – using assisted stretches and
through gentle rocking and rhythmic movements along energy pathways to open
up the body and allow increased flexibility. In Thai massage it is not just
the hands, but the therapist's feet, knees, forearms, and elbows that are
all used to free tension from the recipient's body. Traditionally, Thai
massage is given on the floor and clients are fully clothed. In the end, the
massage is both relaxing and invigorating.
